Celebrating spring

This weekend is something like the sun kind of in the coffee glass…

It’s Vappu in Finland. 🙂 – Vappu, May Day, First of May, May 1st…

The main thing with the Vappu celebration for many people, including myself, is celebrating spring. But how we celebrate tends to vary. We here at our home we’re just at home taking it easy. Maybe going for a car ride as well. And having some traditional homemade Vappu delicacies – a couple of pics here in my blog later on, hopefully. 🙂

A narcissus flower is kind of in the coffee glass, too. 😀

This year the weather is quite OK as well…

There can’t be too much of the colour yellow in spring. 🙂

This was yesterday evening when we stopped by the lake Pyhäjärvi.

For the sun of today

Today it’s like spring and summer at once. 😉 It’s been warm and sunny this spring already before, but now it’s beginning to be like the real deal…

…I can take my coffee pic with green grass in it.

So warm and nice to sit on the warm bench. And the sky is blue…

But what’s up with growing wine grapes in Finland? 🙂

Early springtime

It sounds better than it looks, the early springtime – it’s all still very brownish, nature and garden both, but oh, the sound of the so many birds chirping, tweeting, chirruping, a woodpecker knocking… everywhere around you, even when the sun is not shining. It’s like some jungle… or just the springtime here in Finland! 🙂

One part of our vegetable garden. Our growing field will be expanded a bit this spring…

I was sitting on a bench, having my coffee and taking some pics.

I love these evergreen pine trees… I like to think them as palm trees here in the north… 😉

What’s your favourite colour?

Narcissus, Tête-à-Tête. Waiting for the yellow delights to spring up…

Coffee owl

I came back (from Turku) to my country home here in southwestern Finland already on Tuesday, but it seems like there’s not happening much here in Owlnature… 🙂 But behind the scenes I’m preparing two blog posts, about our journey to a nature travel centre in the Eastern Finland in January this year.

coffee owl

It was a very special trip for me, because I had never been in such cold temperatures before, and because there’s still snow on the ground here in southwestern Finland, too, I thought it’s still appropriate to reminisce the trip here in my new blog. So, coming soon… 🙂

Maps and coffee

I’m still on the second floor in Turku. 🙂

maps

I have my own special spot where I can have my coffee, think about things, read something or study the maps on the wall during my visit here. It’s mostly on the floor, beside the French balcony, with my world map on the wall, and above it another map, a map of Europe.

world map

A proper cup of coffee, a world map and bright sunlight – what else do you need? 😀 Simple pleasures. It’s nice to let the sunlight come in from the open balcony door, too. I also enjoyed the sunny weather when I walked to a grocery store and back this morning.
